Spiced Chai

I don’t know about any of you, but when it starts getting cold, my latte consumption increases a lot and my bank account feels the pain. I don’t have a frother or anything fancy when it comes to making a latte at home, so when Silk showed me this recipe, well let’s just say that my bank account was rejoicing.

This spiced chai drink contains everything in it that I love about the changing seasons…minus of course the snow…it doesn’t include that :) It is super easy and your tummy will love it. So go get a comfy sweater and fuzzy socks…we’re about to enjoy this drink in the comfort of our own home.

Spiced-Chai

Ingredients: Yields 1

  • 1 cup Silk soy, almond or coconut beverage, any flavour except the chocolate.
  • 1 black tea bag
  • 1-2 T honey or agave, to taste
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • 1/8 t cardamom
  • 1/8 t ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 t ginger
  • pinch of cloves

Directions: Place all ingredients in saucepan and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes.

Remove tea bag and return to heat just until warm.

Spiced Chai-2

Silk suggests that for a more spirited drink, add 1oz Irish cream liqueur such as Bailey’s. ( I tried this, and it hit home)
