Never underestimate social media

by Destini on June 24, 2013

Sorry for no Fitness Friday post. For those of you that hadn’t heard, Alberta had experienced large amounts of flooding last week and still this week. I have quite a bit of family in Alberta and an aunt that lives in a small town south of Calgary that was hit the worst. The town had been evacuated, but we had not heard from her for almost 30 hours. But with the help of social media, she was rescued and is okay!

Here is some photos from around the web (photos are linked to the source)

So I just wanted to give a big shout out to all of you. I know some of you helped in sharing her photo. My family really appreciates all the love and support. I can only hope that there is more stories such as ours. I send my love and thoughts to all those affected by flooding in Alberta and wherever else that is or has been affected by flooding too. It is extremely heart wrenching.

So the truth in how my workouts looked last week; I did my Revolt all week, minus Thursday & Friday. I end up missing Thursday’s all together, but did my upper body and a tabata workout on Saturday. I also went into the gym yesterday and did a core plus cardio session. I feel that it all worked itself out. I can’t stress this enough when it comes to fitness programs, listen to your  body. You know your limits, and you  know how to push yourself just a little bit farther. But if things are happening in your life, place the energy that is needed on those.

Really need to work on those triceps some more!

This post is going to be short . I just wanted to give everyone a quick update of why the no post etc.

Hope everyone has a bright Monday.

The most amazing breakfast ever

by Destini on June 21, 2011

So I have been MIA for a bit. And I feel bad. But don’t worry, this will end soon…….(the invites are almost done..sneak peak to follow soon) I do plan to write every other day, I love writing my blog and I take soo many photos I want to share…..I am backed logged in photos and I am almost positive none of these will make it on here. Sucks being as busy as I am.

BUT I needed to talk about this.

This past Saturday I went out for breakfast with my fiancé at a restaurant called Fresh Café, it is owned and operated by three Winnipeg sisters. According to their site,  their goal is “To provide those seeking fresh, local, all-natural, organic breakfast and lunches with a convenient, vibrant daytime eatery that promotes a continuous, healthy lifestyle.” and they do exactly that.

They have a great selection in breakfast, lunch and juice/smoothies.

We both started with bold Kicking Horse Coffee. I added just a tiny bit of raw sugar.

I ordered the ‘two vita eggs with meat’ the meat was turkey sausage(no filler or preservatives). Have you tried turkey sausage before? I hadn’t till then, and let me just say……..IT’S AMAZING!!

YUMMY!! I am obsessed to say the least.
My fiancé had the special Salmon cakes with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce top with a side salad. I was so distracted by my amazing breakfast that I forgot to take photos..I suck.
Question for you guys, does anyone else notice that vita eggs(free run) yolk colour is just much more bold? They taste like happy chickens! I can’t get over how awesome they are. My fiancé and I have been switching all our meat to free range…..this is a whole other blog. I promise to talk about this soon.
My next blog will post some photos of this AMAZING shower my bestest friend and maid of honour Jennifer threw me last Sunday. But if you can’t wait…please go and see her blog about it.

Diet……..The Break-Up

March 18, 2011

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I have been debating this for a few weeks now, I am at my ideal weight and have surpassed my goal. I am healthy, happy and enjoying my new lifestyle. When I started my weight loss, my goal was 130lbs. I am now 120lbs. So then why am I still dieting?  Let’s be serious? Enough is enough. Dieting is a horrible word, no one likes it and I hate it. I am ending it, and trust me dieting…..I don’t want to be friends, in fact I don’t ever want to see you again. It’s official I have removed you as a Facebook friend LOL Now that […]

David’s Tea…This isn’t your grandmas tea shop

March 10, 2011

I am currently getting over the stomach flu, so I am writing this blog from my bed of sickness. Feeling pretty under the weather, I have been drinking lots of fluids. One I am currently enjoying is some tea I purchased this past weekend. A co-worker of mine recently introduced me to this new shop we have in our local mall called David’s Tea. It’s a specialty tea store that specializes in loose leaf tea. They offer a HUGE range of teas from tea with coffee beans in it, to tea that can help with colds and sore throats. Tea from a healthy standpoint has many benefits; studies have shown […]
